Overview
The O-1B visa is designed for individuals who have achieved distinction in the arts, motion picture, or television industries. It recognizes individuals whose creative work has achieved distinction (meaning a high level of achievement and recognition substantially above that ordinarily encountered) at a national or international level.

- Receipt of a major, internationally recognized award (e.g., Oscar, Emmy, Director’s Guild, etc.)
- Lead or starring role in productions or events with distinguished reputations.
- National or international recognition for achievements through critical reviews, publications, or endorsements.
- Performed or will perform a lead, starring, or critical role for organizations and establishments with distinguished reputations.
- Record of major commercial or critically acclaimed successes, as shown by box office receipts, record sales, or other indicators.
- Significant recognition from organizations, critics, government agencies, or recognized experts in the field.
- Commanded or will command a high salary or other substantial remuneration compared to others in the field.
In addition to meeting at least three criteria, USCIS conducts a final merits determination to assess whether the totality of the evidence demonstrates that the individual has achieved distinction at a national or international level.
