The journey to securing permanent residency in the United States can be long, uncertain, and emotionally exhausting. For highly skilled professionals, especially those born in countries with extensive green card backlogs, the process can take decades.
This is the story of a cybersecurity expert who, after 15 years in the U.S., navigating countless visa renewals, travel restrictions, and career uncertainties, finally obtained the EB1A – "Alien of Extraordinary Ability" – green card, commonly known as the “Einstein Visa.”
Arriving in the U.S. in 2009 for a graduate degree in engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder, he specialized in cybersecurity and computer networking. Over the years, he built an exceptional career, securing leadership roles at top cybersecurity firms, including Google Cloud, FireEye, Tanium, and Lacework.
Yet, despite working in an area of national importance—protecting critical digital infrastructure—his immigration status remained in limbo.
Adding to the frustration, his EB2-India green card backlog was projected to take 100 years to clear—a fate shared by millions of skilled professionals stuck in the system.
Like many others in the skilled immigrant community, he was initially unaware that his profile might qualify for an EB-1A green card. This changed when he was introduced to Alma in mid-2024.
Unlike employer-sponsored green card categories, EB-1A allows individuals to self-petition based on their extraordinary achievements. However, proving eligibility requires a meticulous and compelling case, demonstrating sustained national or international acclaim.
Recognizing the complexity of the process, Alma’s legal team, led by attorney Luke, stepped in. Over the next two months, they worked closely with our client to:
In November 2024, just as the U.S. election results signaled an uncertain future for immigration policy, a long-awaited notification arrived from USCIS:
EB1A green card approved.
After years of uncertainty, the approval marked more than just a visa—it unlocked long-term stability, allowing our client and his family to plan their future in the U.S. without fear of status expiration.

"I got approved for my EB-1A Green Card, colloquially known as the "Einstein Visa”… My EB2-India green card is predicted to be approved in a 100 years. Millions like me (including my entire friend circle) are going through the same challenges… that's when I got introduced to Alma in August 2024 and their fearless founder Aizada Marat by my brother. He told me about a vertical AI startup trying to disrupt the archaic legal industry… Aizada is painfully aware of the problem legal immigrants face… I have not seen a stronger founder-expertise-market fit…"
